Ghastly Good Halloween Drink Ideas You Should Try

For 2020, over 148 million Americans say they’ll celebrate Halloween. Chances are, you’re one of these people. COVID-19 or not, you’re determined to have a fantastic time during this spooky time.

Whether you’re having a party with your household or hosting a virtual party, you want to have some delicious (and perhaps strong!) drinks in hand.

Do you want to scare the pants off your party guests with ghastly good Halloween drinks? Then you’re in the right place! Here are some excellent Halloween drink ideas you should try this year.

Black Magic

Very rarely do we see any drink that’s completely black in color. So the black magic cocktail should definitely mesmerize your party guests!

The drink requires some Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila, as well as some lemon juice, sage simple syrup, Angostura bitters, and activated charcoal (capsule).

To make the sage simple syrup, boil an equal amount of sugar and water, and throw some sprigs of sage into this mixture. Let it keep boiling for a little bit and then let the syrup cool off before using it.

Take all of these ingredients, put them in a shaker, and do your thing. Once the drink’s adequately shaken, strain it into a cocktail glass. You can garnish it by placing a lemon slice on the side.

Candy Corn Old Fashioned

Are you or your guests fans of Jack Daniels? Then this is certainly a drink you’ll want to serve up at your Halloween party! It puts a twist on the classic Halloween candy you’d eat as a kid, so what’s not to like about it?

To make a candy corn old fashioned, you’ll need some orange bitters, orange slices, candy corn syrup (Monin makes a great one), and some Jack Daniels, of course.

You’ll want to muddle all of these ingredients in a whiskey tumbler, except for the whiskey. Throw in some ice (craft ice, if you’re fancy), and then fill with about a shot of whiskey.

If you want to add some “Halloween decor” to your drink, you can always garnish your whiskey tumblers with some actual candy corn pieces. This can give it a special touch!

Candy Apple Cocktail

Here’s another flavor that might remind you of your childhood autumns. This cocktail requires some salted caramel moonshine, apple liqueur, cranberry juice, and sparkling cider. You’ll also need some coconut flakes and apple slices for garnishing.

First, you’ll want to take the coconut flakes and rim a whiskey tumbler with it. Take this moment to also fill up the glass with some crushed ice.

Now put all the other ingredients (except the sparkling apple cider) into a cocktail shaker, shake well, and then strain the drink into your whiskey tumbler. Top up your drink with the cider.

Put the finishing touch on your cocktail by topping the glass with an apple slice or two. Then enjoy!

Slime

This cocktail has an eye-catching neon green color that is sure to wow the crowd. You can even add to the Halloween decor by pouring the mix into test tubes to serve, which will match perfectly with a mad scientist costume!

This is also another extremely easy cocktail to whip up for your party. Gather some peach schnapps, melon liqueur, and Irish cream liqueur.

First, shake up and strain the peach schnapps and melon liqueur into a cocktail glass. Now hover the shot glass with the Irish cream liqueur over the glass and pour it in. This should create a cloudy look below.

Now you’re done and can serve up the tasty drinks to your guests!

Bloody Murder

You can’t have a Halloween party without something that’s blood-themed! While Bloody Murder isn’t quite a Bloody Mary, it’s still an amazingly delicious drink you’ve got to serve up at your party. And what’s best about this drink is it’s so simple, anyone could make it!

All you need is some simple syrup, grapefruit juice, Jagermeister, and some tequila (and a slice of grapefruit or blood orange as a garnish). We know what you’re thinking: Jagermeister mixed with tequila? But trust us, this combination is simply divine!

Simply shake all these ingredients in a cocktail shaker and then strain into a whiskey tumbler. You can then garnish it with either a grapefruit or blood orange slice.

Eyeball Shot

Last on our list of Halloween recipes is the eyeball shot. This is one of the more visually grotesque drinks, as the name hints at.

To achieve this, you’ll need some lychee fruit. If you’re not able to get fresh ones, you might have better luck looking for canned lychee. Other ingredients you’ll need are vodka, cranberry juice, simple syrup, cherry juice, gelatin, and cherries.

You’ll want to first make a gelatin mix with the simple syrup, cranberry juice, and cherry juice over very low heat. Once the gelatin is dissolved, then stir in the vodka.

Get your shot glasses out and fill them up about halfway with some vodka. Stuff the lychee fruit with cherries, and put one in each shot glass. Then, top off the glasses with vodka and put them in the refrigerator until the whole thing sets.
